Route Mapping Tool

Routes

Here's a great website I've found for mapping and sharing routes. Lets you create maps and cue sheets. Sweet!

Comparison of Route Mapping Tools

I agree, it's a very useful tool. It uses Google Maps for its foundation, allowing you to create your routes by clicking points on the map, and automatically connecting them in the order you add them to the map. Another website that is similar is: http://www.bikely.com/

While both sites are built on the Google Maps platform, there are notable differences between them. I've tried to capture those as best I can in the table below:

Able to Create a New Route from an Existing One Yes. From your "My Routes" page, click on the copy icon next to the route. If the route you want to copy is not on your "My Routes" page, you will have to save it as one of your favorites, first. Not directly. Can export route you want to start with as a GPX file to your computer, and then import as a newly created route which you can edit for your new route. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, you lose all of your elevation data for the portion of the route you imported from the GPX file.
Able to Superimpose Aerial View on MapYes. Yes.
