Charlotte to Raleigh

(Hey, nice site! I'm a bike commuter in Raleigh. Recently someone asked us about a route to Raleigh from Charlotte - here's what we came up with:

Any suggestions, particularly on the Charlotte end?

Some friends and are talking about repeating a trip we did about two years ago - take the Amtrak to Charlotte and bicycle back to Raleigh with an overnight tent camping stop about half way (maybe Asheboro).

route from UNC to CLT

Charlotte to Raleigh

Back in 1973 when I was an undergrad at UNC I rode my bike a couple of times between Chapel Hill and Charlotte. I probably took much of your route since I went through Asheboro and the Uwharrie region. I would spend the night at a motel in Tryon. That is beautiful countryside and rolling hills.
